APOTROPIA is a duo based in Rome consisting of dancer/visual artist Antonella Mignone and visual artist/composer Cristiano Panepuccia. APOTROPIA is the result of their symbiosis; a repository of their experimentation based on a dialogue between image, sound and movement.

“We look after every aspect of our own artistic production, mainly using materials such as light, sound, motion, bodies, time”.

APOTROPIA has taken part in exhibitions and festivals all around the world receiving numerous awards. Their recent work Kintsugi (2014) earned the excellence award at the 18th Japan Media Arts Festival.

APOTROPIA’s audiovisual piece Sense of Place (2015) is a walk through the streets of Rome. In a visual sequence filmed images of the city are projected on a body, and then the body itself is filmed. This is a multi-layered approach to video, where shapes compose a magnificent installation and demonstrate the process of the dissolution of the human body in the urban landscape.

“Some places have a stronger sense of place than others”.

MULTIPLE VISIONS.
