Gabriele Maruotti, a newcomer to the art scene in Rome, was born and raised in Foggia and is the youngest of six sons. He is currently enrolled in a course in multimedia arts and technology at Academia Belle Arti Roma. His passion for creation started at a young age, today he explores various formats of drawing from scribbling to graffiti art and music from classic guitar to electronic sound.

Being a street art artist he said, “… some of my works were born and died in a state of perpetual exposure”.

MetroRome (2015), his contribution to Multiple Visions. One City is a sound piece that was created by recording his daily routines. The artist noticed that he spends most of his time in the metro, what he describes as “… an alienating place, a limbo of space and time, a non-place in which people move as ants through the ruins of an ancient buried civilization”.

His work shows through our auditory sense how one can be affected and provoked by the sounds in the city, and how it is through these sounds that one sees the narrative of the city.
